Buddy Holly on the Bus - Lew Allen

Photographer Lew Allen's early rock photos have been showcased at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, London's National Portrait Gallery, the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, and many other galleries. Allen remarks, "The Buddy Holly photo taken on the bus was shot as the bus carrying the musicians arrived at the theater in Rochester, NY. As the musicians got off the bus, screaming girls who prevented the other musicians from getting off attacked them, so I jumped on to see who was left on the bus and found the mood inside was very somber. The bus was arriving from what I believe was a long ride in the winter without having stopped at any hotels for the musicians to rest before the show. The New York State Thruway wasn't finished and only two lane highways were available for interstate travel at that time."  Hand signed by photographer Lew Allen who passed away in January 2023. - 16" x 20" - Unframed
